September 17, 2014

Well, that was a fun weekend!

It started with a retirement/birthday party for Fay. Fay spent her career as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse. She and her friends and coworkers showed that not only do they do the work of angels, they know how to dance and party. Pictures are posted.

Up early the next morning to play at Glenora Wine Cellars' Leaves, and Lobster on the Lawn event. This is a fabulous two day event and we certainly got the better day this year. Pictures are posted.

August 25, 2014

Since the last udate we have played a couple of wonderful weddings.

August 16th we were at the beautiful Corning Country Club for Christine's and Scott's wedding. Beth jumped in and joined us while Elaina was celebrating her Grandmother's 98th birthday. Paul Close filled in for Durf on sound and tore it up on guitar on "Sweet Home Chicago." With our photographer missing, were only able to capture one picture from the evening. It was a great night with dancing from the start.

August 23rd was Abby's and Nick's wedding at the fantastic Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. Everyone was ready for a party and they danced the night away. Pictures are posted.

Congratulations to Christine and Scott and to Abby and Nick. We wish you a lifetime of health and happiness together.

August 11, 2014

Since the last udate we have played the Benefit for Molly Bennett (Pictures are posted), The BZ Tournament (Pictures are posted) and the Avon Corn Festival (see the video and we should have pictures later). We also got rained out at the Switz.

The benefit for the Bennetts was a tremendous event. We are honored to be included in community events such as this. The BZ Tournament is another great community event hosted by the Stantons with a huge crew of community volunteers. We were happy to be back this year. We were supposed to be at the Switz next, but some amazing rain put a damper on that. Oh well, next year! We capped the string of gigs by returing to where it all started and celebrated our 10th anniversary at the Avon Rotary Corn Festival. We were joined by Tim Brinduse at the Benefit for Molly and by Conrad Phillips and Seamus Donegan at the Corn Festival.

July 20, 2014

Geneseo Summer Concert Series

Joe's Graduation

The Golf Tournament is always a great time and a wonderful community event in the memory of Michael Hayes. We always look forward to a great day with everyone. Thanks to the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and participants. Seamus Donegan sat in and did a few tunes, to the delight of the audience.

We kicked of the Geneseo Summer Concert Series for another year. We are so happy that they keep having us back. It was a beautiful evening with an audience of all ages. Tim Brinduse sat in and play some great harmonica. We hope to be back next year.

Joe graduated and Janet and Chris threw a party. And what a party it was. Typically people don't dance outside in the daylight, but this group was not going by that rule. Thanks so much for letting us be part of it. We even learned a couple of new tunes. Congratulations Joe!

We have a busy few weeks coming up. We hope to see you out and about!

What a beautiful day!! We had a fantastic time playing at John and Janice Barrett's farm for the 6th annual Memorial Day party and Avon Food Pantry fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who came and donated to the food pantry and supported the Home Town Heros Program. Special thanks to Janice, Janey, and John for all they do putting on this event!
We had help on stage this year as well. Jay Sharman added some really nice things on percussion and drums, Bill Christiano jumped right in for a few tunes on bass as if he never left, Kate Phillips played a new tune with us and drove the band, and Larry Childs tore it up on some blues harp. All in all, a perfect day. Pictures are posted!

The joint was jumping at DiMartino's Sports Bar in Warsaw. The crowd was great and we were joined by our good friend Russ Flint on vocals and guitar. Russ did a great job fronting the band and taught us a few new tunes along the way. Here's"Free/Into the Mystic" featuring Russ. We also had Tom, Jay, and Rick sit in during the night. Everybody was having a good time. The quote of the night was "The band is great!! But it looks a bit like a Cialis commercial." Pictures are posted.

April 9, 2014

Thanks to the folks at the Rochester Irish Children's Program fundraiser for letting us be part of this great event once again. We had a blast at the German house and were joined by Ken Snyder on guitar and vocals.

Join us April 26th at DiMartino's Sports Bar in Warsaw. Then we'll take a little break and start the Summer season on Memorial Day weekend at our annual Food Pantry benefit at Barrett's Farm.

What a night! The Rock Bottom Bar-B-Que in Corning rocked! It was a fun night with family, old friends, new friends, and a bunch of musicians.

Blues brother Conrad Phillips and Larry Childs blew some mean harp. Paul Close, Willie Hayes, and Tony Serdula wailed on guitar and Becky Jo Hendley wowed 'em as she fronted the band. Thanks to Steve Childs for keeping Live music alive (and for some great ribs) and to April Thompson for keeping everything together.

Pictures are posted.

March 16, 2014

St. Paddy's at the Avon Inn was fantastic! The highlight for the band and many in the audience was a surprise visit from Elaina. She shocked us by coming home for break unannounced. The Inn was packed and we were treated to Irish dancing and an Irish sing-a-long before taking the stage. Pictures are posted.

Next up is a trip to Corning to play at the Rock Bottom Bar-B-Que! We'll be playing 9 - 1.

The energy was amazing at the Blair Phillip's Music Fest. Music was provided by BBB, The Hoboz, Little Debbie and the Cosmic Brownies, and Seamus Donegan.
Tim Hayes didn't leave a dry eye in the house with his rendition of "One Small Star" in tribute to Blair. Seamus joined BBB for "Drops of Jupiter" and did a great job even as we tried to confuse him by plaing in two keys at once. Special thanks to Bill Christiano for sitting in for Dan most of the night and to Conrad and Kate Phillips for sitting in.
Our heart felt gratitiude to all of the organizers and contributors for making this event a great success and to all who attended for reminding us what a great community we live in. Pictures are posted.

And 2013 comes to a close. Frankly, it was a tough year for BBB. The overwhelming event this year was the tragic death of Paul and Deirdre Phillips' son Blair. Blair was a wonderful young man with the whole world opened to him. Take this time to remember Blair and to understand how fragile life can be. Live your life with this understanding and make it the best possible life it can be. 2013 started with a tremendous day of community events celebrating Blair's life.
We would like to thank the following people, organizations, and venues for having us play at their events: Brockport Golf Club, NYS Holstein Convention, Celebration of Life for Blair Phillips, Teresa House Benefit, Swain Ski Resort, St. Patrick's Day at the Avon Inn, The Wadsworth Grill, Irish Children's Program fundraiser, Memorial Day at Barrett's Farm, Leicester Summer Concert Series, The Switzerland Inn, Avon's Saturday Night Out, The McGarr Wedding, Geneseo Summer Concert Series, The Cassidy Wedding, Avon Corn Festival, C.P. Ward Party, GVRDC Party, The Smith Wedding, Glenora Wine Cellars, Gala in the Valley, Genesee Valley Hunt Club Ball, Genesee Valley Hunt Club End of the Season Party, New Year's Eve at the Avon American Legion, The Valley Oak Event Center, Avon Food Pantry, The Big Tree Inn, The Homestead, and the Hartford House. We appreciate the opportunities and look forward to revisiting many of these events and locations.
Everyone was on stage this year. Bernie, Bill, Don, Steve, Russ, and Kate all joined us. Dan and Brian Paganin filled in for Durf on sound. Special thanks to Beth for being there while Elaina studied in Africa. It is one big, musical family.
As always, a huge thank you to our families for letting us go out and play. Perhaps they knew what they were getting into when they married musicians, perhaps not. Either way, Thank you!
As long as you all keep letting us, we’ll keep playing. Best wishes for a Happy New Year!!

From all of us at Bob's Brother's Band
