We're taking it easy after a fun and busy summer. The great thing about this time of the year is that we get to freshen up the song list. If you have some suggestions for tunes we should add, let us know. No promises, but we'd be very interested in knowing what you'd like to hear.

Another year and another fantastic Genesee Valley Hunt Club Ball. We love playing for this group! Dancing starts immediately and it doesn't stop. It was great to see people for far and wide. We had a guest singer. Mary came up and sang the song "Forget You" and did a great job. Thanks to the organizers for pulling off another very successful event and for having BBB. What a beautiful weekend atGlenora Wine Cellars! It was a little chilly, but the people, food, and views were fantastic. Each day was a bit different for us and the crowd.

Saturday's crowd was ready to dance and party. Sunday's crowd was a bit more laid back, but showed they could dance and party too. Beth fronted the band on Saturday, broken foot and all and Elaina took over on Sunday. Tim fell in love over the weekend, with the wireless microphone. He had a great time out and about with the crowd.

Thanks to Kerry and all of the other organizers for having us this year. We hope to be back! Pictures from Saturday are posted and Pictures from Sunday are posted.

It's time to get your tickets for the Gala in the Valley supporting the United Way.

Special thanks to Brian Paganin for running sound for us and of course to Stephanie and Amos for including us on your special day. Pictures are posted.

Coming up next is our first tip to Glenora Wine Cellars for their Leaves and Lobsters on the Lawn event. We are really looking forward to this!

Prime Time Funk played the evening concert and they were joined by Elaina on three tunes. It was fantastic.  And if that wasn't enough, Paul's daughter Anna was invited up for an improptu performance on PTF's closing song. That was a special moment.

On Sunday, Elaina, John, Dan, and Dave carried on what has become a tradition and played for the service at the Avon United Methodist Church.  It was a great weekend!

There is a rumor that a certain red head we know may make a guest appearance with Prime Time Funk at the evening concert. Hey, you never know!

Wow! Another fantastic St. Paddy's day at the Avon Inn. Thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers for another great event.  Pictures are posted.  We had to make due without Elaina or Beth and John showed up without his voice.  Gerry jumped up front and helped Tim carry the bulk of vocal load (even on a tune he didn't expect us to play, my bad) and played electronic percussion, Steve handled the drum duties and picked up some vocals, Jay Priest sat in on drums for a Jon Cleary tune and did a great job.  Rob Hayes joined Tim for a duet on "If I Had a Million Dollars."   Mary Flick provided stellar accompaniment for the annual Irish sing-a-long.  And of course we had our guest tambourine players and singers.  We really enjoyed seeing everyone come out and enjoy a night to benefit the Avon community.   It was a super night and we can't wait until next year!

January 29, 2013

Saturday, January 26, 2013 was an amazing day as an extended community celebrated the life of Blair Phillips. Pictures are posted.  Blair was remembered and celebrated as he lived life, with thoughtfulness and reflection; with love and compassion; with friends, family and music, and with laughter and fun. We had the whole BBB family participating.  Beth, Bernie, Don, Bill, Steve, Kate, Colby, and Conrad all joined in as did the AVP singers and many other background singers.  Vince and Russ were there to support the event as well.  There were also house rocking sets by the AVP and the Hoboz.

January 19, 2013

It is with broken hearts and incredible sadness that we must acknowledge the passing of Blair Phillips. Blair is the son of Paul and Deirdre Phillips and brother to Kate and Anna. Blair was one of the rarest of young men, he combined incredible amounts of intelligence, talent, humor and grace into such a humble and unassuming personality. You were immediately drawn to Blair whenever he was present, his natural charisma and wonderful wide smile were his calling cards and he was just so much fun. A recent University of Virginia graduate with a degree in Architecture he had begun a career in the Washington DC area and what a career it would have been, he had greatness in him. He was also a trained classical pianist who won awards in the Rochester area for his amazing talent, he played the trumpet and performed in college with the men's accapella group AVP that travelled all over the country performing shows.

This list of his accomplishments in such a short time could go on and on but none of that would be able to really tell you what an incredible young man he was. On top of all of this was a young man of unquestionable integrity, unending faith in his family and friends and a deep compassion for others. He was what we all hope our children will grow up to be, a young man who you felt could make a difference in this world.

Paul Phillips has been with us in the band from the beginning and most of our children grew up together in Avon, we went to school concerts, swim meets, baseball games, picnics and church together, we were not just a band, we are true friends. Paul and Deirdre from our family at BBB please accept our heartbroken sympathy for you and all of your family. All of our lives and our worlds are better from being touched by the spirit of Blair Phillips. God Bless Blair Phillips

January 18, 2013

We had two great gigs to start January. First at the Brockport Country club, where we had a fantastic crowd and a great time. Thanks to Dan Paganin for stepping in and doing a stellar job handling sound for us. The second was for the NYS Holstein Convention. It was a lot of fun and a great event. Thanks to Kirk Vanderbilt for doing a super job of taking care of sound for us.

January 6, 2013

Wow, did we really just finish 2012? BBB celebrated 8 years together this year. We are still having a blast playing throughout Livingston County and every now and then they renew our passports and let us go outside to Monroe and even other counties. Our goal from the beginning has been to play a couple of times a month and we were pretty on target with 29 shows in 2012. We also have an informal goal of doing 20 - 25% of our shows as community service. We had 8 community service engagements this past year.

The year started with a phenomenal community event in Avon. It was hosted at the Avon Inn and called Party with a Purpose. This was to help raise support for two great Avonites, Dave Whitney and Justin Mutusak. The event was a huge success and more importantly, both of these men got a glimpse of how much the community cared about and loved them. It was great to see John and Justin performing together and Dave staying and smiling all night long. Unfortunately we lost both of these great characters during 2012. The way they touched those around them and the entire community will not be forgotten. There will be tears and some gut wrenching laughter as we look back and remember. God’s speed to you, Dave and Justin.

We would like to thank the following people, organizations, and venues for having us play at their events: Party for a Purpose, The Teresa House Benefit, The Valley Oak Event Center, Zion Church in Avon, The Avon Inn, The Genesee Valley Hunt Ball, The Big Tree Inn, the Statesmen, Swain Ski Resort, The Avon Rotary Corn Festival, The BZ Golf Tournament, Livingston County Country Club, Mendon Community Theater, The Irish Children's Program, The Geneseo Summer Concert Series, The Pender’s Party, Vitale Park, Avon Saturday Night Out, Mt Morris Italian Festival, Leicester Summer Concert Series, Avon Food Pantry, St. Pat's at the Avon Inn, The Conesus Golf Club, The Leroy Country Club, The Tavern in Geneseo, The United Way Gala in the Valley, The Homestead, The Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel, and The Nines. We appreciate the opportunities and look forward to revisiting many of these events and locations.

In 2012 we had the privilege to participate in five wedding celebrations. Thanks to Steve and Mary Ellen West, Mike and Cassie Tucci, Jeff and Whitney Jackson, Adam and Mary Barrett, and Art and Brianne Kirk for including us in your special day.

The BBB family continues to grow and work together to make music and have fun. Two new family members for 2012 are Bernie Pernot and Boo Stothers. Bernie has filled in on keys when Paul’s new position in Massachusetts made him unavailable and Boo has pitched in on sound and sat in on drums. We were also joined this year by alums Bill Christiano and Elizabeth Ippolito. Russ Flint jumped in a few times to fill vocal spots and to fill in for Dave on guitar. Vince Ercolamento joined us for a set on sax to the delight of the Hunt Club. Justin Matusak joined us at the Memorial Day party. Kate Phillips sat in a few times during the year. Of course Steve had his spots as well and now that Don is back from the South, we expect to see him sitting in on occasion. Everyone did a great job!! We also had a great line up of guests who helped us with background vocals and stage fun during the shows.

We also need to say a huge thank you to our families for letting us go out and play, sometimes even in the street. They've heard all the stories about what great deals our wonderful new purchases are and they understand when we're gone all day on a beautiful summer day. Thank you!

As long as you all keep letting us, we’ll keep playing.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year!!

From all of us at Bob's Brother's Band
